Google powraca do Google Glass z AI

Ponad dziesięć lat po głośnej porażce Google Glass firma Google podejmuje kolejną próbę wprowadzenia na rynek inteligentnych okularów. Okulary te trafią do sprzedaży zimą. W oprawkach znajdzie się mała kamera, a w zausznikach miniaturowe głośniki. Dzięki nim użytkownicy będą mogli komunikować się z programem sztucznej inteligencji Google o nazwie Gemini.

Google po raz pierwszy zaprezentowało okulary we wtorek podczas corocznej konferencji dla programistów. Jedna para została zaprojektowana przez Warby Parker, a druga przez Gentle Monster.

Google Glass pojawiło się w 2013 roku, ale zostało wycofane zaledwie siedem miesięcy po premierze w Wielkiej Brytanii w 2015 roku z powodu negatywnych reakcji na cenę i obaw o prywatność.

W przemówieniu wygłoszonym podczas wtorkowej konferencji dyrektor Google, Shahram Izadi, powiedział, że nowe inteligentne okulary pozwolą użytkownikowi mieć „wolne ręce i głowę wysoko uniesioną”. Według Google okulary będą współpracować zarówno z urządzeniami z systemem Android, jak i Apple. Izadi dodał: „Zostały zaprojektowane tak, abyś mógł korzystać z pomocy Gemini przez cały dzień; zamiast wyświetlać informacje na ekranie, to oprogramowanie AI będzie mówić ci do ucha”.

Chociaż firma pracuje również nad wersją okularów z wyświetlaczem wewnątrz soczewki, który pokazywałby użytkownikowi tekst i informacje, nie ograniczając się do audio, obecnie nie ma planów wprowadzenia takich okularów na rynek.

GOOGLE RETURNS TO SMART GLASSES WITH AI POWERED LENSES

More than a decade after the well-known failure of Google Glass, Google is making another attempt to bring smart glasses to market. These glasses will go on sale sometime in the winter. The frames will house a small camera and the arms will contain tiny speakers. Through them, users will be able to interact with Google's artificial intelligence program Gemini.

Google unveiled the glasses for the first time on Tuesday during its annual developer conference. One pair was designed by Warby Parker and the other by Gentle Monster.

Google Glass was introduced in 2013 but was pulled just seven months after its UK launch in 2015 due to backlash over its price and privacy concerns.

In a speech at the event on Tuesday, Google executive Shahram Izadi said the new smart glasses will keep the wearer's “hands free and head held high.” According to Google, the glasses will work with both Android and Apple devices. Izadi added: “They are designed so that you can get help from Gemini all day long; instead of displaying on a screen, this AI software will speak into your ear.”

Although the company is also working on a version of the glasses with a display inside the lens that would show written text and information to the wearer, not limited to audio, but there are currently no plans to release such glasses.
